It’s the beginning of a journey…

Welcome! Thanks for stopping by.

When I was a little girl, I spent most afternoons and summers at my grandparents’ house in our very small Mississippi town. My grandmother (who we lovingly called “MiMi”) was lucky enough to live right next door to her best friend, a sweet lady named Ms. Eleanor. Each day, one would walk over to the others’ house for coffee and cake (or sometimes pie, depending on what MiMi was in the mood to bake) and they would chat for over an hour at least about whatever was on their minds. It was their ritual. A daily theraputic connection. To this day, I still think about it and love how dedicated they were to their friendship and this special time together. There is something really wonderful and comforting about sharing your ideas and thoughts with someone else. As I’ve grown older, I now understand the importance of having and making connections. We all need a connection to another human being, to ourselves, to our past and to our future.

As a wife and the mom of three young children, I know how hard it is to keep everything together. We’ve moved around several times and have shared many adventures. This space is intended to be my connection…a forum for sharing ideas, tips, and thoughts about how we can enjoy our children, lives and homes each day. The name is derived from my past Mississippi roots (magnolia) and my current Louisiana life (roux…because anyone who’s from Louisiana will tell you, the foundation to anything you make needs to be a solid roux). I hope through this I can share something that helps you to find the beauty in all the daily chaos.

I’ve also always wanted to write and explore more of my creative side. Through this endeavor, I want to expand my horizons. Hopefully we can become like my MiMi and Ms. Eleanor….sharing a daily thought or two over a hot cup of coffee.
